Audit Team Emerges Champion in Bankers’ Cup 2009

After ten weeks of lawn tennis competition among the local bankers in Riyadh, the Audit Team grabbed the prestigious and highly coveted championship trophy in the Bankers Cup 2009 Team Tennis Tournament held at the Al Yamama Hotel tennis courts.

The team is composed of Nick Real (Captain), Ronnie Oliver (Co-Captain), July Manacap, Benrulph Corvera, Jojie San Pedro, Leo Gervacio, Jonathan Del Pilar, Romy Guevarra, Bobby Camacho, Edgar Estoesta, Charles Gavino, Lope Tubio, Ken Bonguit, Ramil Ancajas, Vivencio Manansala and Alvin Medina. The Audit Team reaped a total of 532 points during the entire tournament after upsetting the Retail Team.

The total efforts of the Retail Team garnering 511 points were not sufficient to maneuver the champions which landed them as 1st runner-up. With Roel Genson as Captain and Bong Bueta as Co-Captain, the team is made up of Ed Robillos, Serg Arriola, Manny dela Cruz, Roger Llamido, Michael Gracia, Tony Monter, Benny Daguplo, Francis Galdones, Tony Fernandez, Vic Agregado, Axel Wanero, Fidel Ferrer, Oscar Rivadeneria and Dennis Lumintac.

2nd Runner Up went to Credit Team with 498 points. The team was headed by Guilbert Masias (Captain), Jimmy Mandria (Co-Captain), Rolly Barrozo, Neil Perez, Richmond Lagrito, Joey Salem, Nick Lozada, Jolly Laglag, Art Bumatay, Nasil Kalayaan, Jeff Aldave, Dexter Salona, Boy Rogel, Jess Lim, Randolph Dalisay and Robert Calunsag.

Operations Team was not fortunate to place 3rd runner up position by finishing eleven (11) crucial points against Credit Team. Captained by Guilbert Faustino, the team was unable to sustain its final game against Treasury having earned only 487 points overall. Members of Operations Team are Ernan Santiago, Tony Yap, Jun Velasco, Benjie Lee, Lito Ladio, Ed Booba, Ernest Lorenzana, Jun Baylon (Co-Captain), Alan Bayos, Noel Bernabe, Adie Dioso, Paul Villanueva, Angel Bautista, Neil Danao and Fenan Adem.

The Treasury Team came in as 4th runner up position having earned a total points of 485 captained by Angel Jarobel, Jerome Corpuz (Co-Captain), Ricky Ortega, Ronnie Bigtas, Ric Camara, Sherwin Sulit, Bogs Mendoza, Rolly Torres, Jun Pasamonte, Ding Perez, Sam Borrero, Chris Garcia, Edwin Fontiveros, Bernie, Ed Pesigan and Alfredo Estrada as members, while the Corporate Team landed 5th runner up and only took 450 total points. The team comprised of Deo Pelaez (Captain) but was replaced by Vic Capulong in the middle of the tournament, Frank Orias (Co-Captain), Manny Obligado, Rommel Gomez, Dong Calub, Mike Shariff, Sunoj Thomas, Ernie Onate, Rey Atienza, Mirza Baig, Agie Dazo, Carlito Galdo, Rino Larena, Abdulwajid and Ricky Lopez.

Trophies will be awarded to the Best Doubles: Bong Bueta and Ed Robillos of Retail Team (A1-A2 category) Ric Camara and Jerome Corpuz of Treasury Team (A3-A4 category), Ernest Lorenzana and Guilbert Faustino of Operation Team (B3-B4 category), Ding Perez and Sam Borrero of Treasury Team (B5-B6 category), Noel Bernabe and Ardie Dioso of Operations Team (B7-B8 category), Frank Orias and Ric Cura of Corporate Team (B9-B10 category), Vivecio Manansala and Alvin Medina of Audit Team (C1-C2 category).

While the following will be awarded as Best Players in their respective categories: Leo Gervacio (B1) and Bogs Mendoza (B2).

This tournament was made possible by the following: Roel Genson is the Overall chairperson of this year’s Bankers Cup. Members of the Committee include Ed Estoesta as Vice-Chairman, Bogs Mendoza and Boy Rogel (Finance), Dong Calub (Ways and Means), Jeff Aldave (Programs & Special Events), Rolly Torres (Website Administration) and Michael Gracia and Rudolph Valles (Statistics).

The awarding ceremony will be held at the Al Yamama Tennis Courts on Thursday, 12th November 2009 at 7:30 pm. Team and Individual trophies will be awarded to the Champion, 1st Runner Up and 2nd Runner Up respectively. Likewise, special awards will be distributed among those who earned the Best Double and Best Players. Raffle draws will be the center of attraction to the lucky winners.
